Eric Cantor is dusting off his résumé.

He’ll be on the job market after Monday, Aug. 18.

That’s the day he’s announced he will exit the U.S. House of Representatives.

Rep. Cantor, a major fundraiser with close ties to big business and Wall Street, did not say last Friday what he plans to do after leaving his 7th District Congressional seat.

It’s reported he is up for jobs carrying salaries of $1 million a year or more.

Rep. Cantor, 51, lost his seat in June to upstart Dave Brat, a Randolph-Macon professor.

He had already stepped down as House Republican majority leader, and now he’s giving up the district seat.

Mr. Brat is facing two rivals, Democrat Jack Trammell and Libertarian James Carr. Voters will decide the outcome in a special Nov. 4 election to fill out Rep. Cantor’s term that ends next year.

Rep. Cantor at first said he would serve the remainder of his term and leave in January.

Apparently, however, big job offers started rolling in making him exit earlier than expected.
