VSU women also lose in NCAA opener

Both area teams in the women’s NCAA Division II Atlantic Region lost last Friday on opening night.

Along with host and regional top seed Virginia Union University’s surprise loss to Bowie State University, Virginia State University lost 80-55 to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Finishing 23-6, VSU Coach James Hill’s Trojans were led by seniors Mia Fitts and Alexis Smith with 14 points and 13 points, respectively, and by junior Chrisanna Green’s 12 rebounds.
