Re Editorial “Morrissey’s wife speaks her mind,” Sept. 22-24 edition:

It’s unfortunate that Myrna Morrissey’s name must be included in public commentary on the Richmond mayor’s race. She deserves the chance to get on with her life.

Unfortunately, she married a local figure who has been controversial for more than 20 years. Her husband has detractors for good reasons. His ill temperament, his bad behavior and his dishonesty have led to severe sanctions by his colleagues in the law and his being shunned by colleagues in the General Assembly and by the Democratic Party of Virginia.

I believe in redemption. But we should never entrust the leadership of our city to one who has failed so often to manage his own life.
