Richmond Public Schools has updated its schedule to receive public comments about changing the name of J.E.B. Stuart Elementary.
Located at 3101 Fendall Ave. in North Side, the school is the only one in the city named for a Confederate. The Richmond School Board has said it wants to rename the school in a system that has an overwhelmingly African-American student population.
The new schedule of public meetings:
• Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. to noon, J.E.B. Stuart Elementary, 3101 Fendall Ave.
• Monday, May 21, 6 p.m., Richmond School Board meeting at J.E.B. Stuart Elementary.
• Tuesday, May 22, 6 to 8 p.m., Claude Perkins Living and Learning Center, Virginia Union University, 1500 N. Lombardy St.
• Monday, June 4, 6:30 p.m., Richmond School Board meeting, School Board Room, 17th floor, Richmond City Hall, 900 E. Broad St.
