Tahj Harding looks good on camera.

In one of the few games ever televised live from quaint Barco-Stevens Hall, the Virginia Union University sophomore backup became a leading man.

Coming off the bench, the 6-foot-5 Harding scored 17 points and snagged 10 rebounds as VUU blasted visiting Elizabeth City, 87-71, on a BCSBN TV.

On the season, Harding averages just 5.8 points but he’s had several double-digit outings of late and figures heavily into Coach Jay Butler’s upcoming plans.

The “Tahj Mahal” hit four of six 3-pointers and five of six foul shots as VUU kept pace with Virginia State atop the CIAA Northern standings.

Harding grew up in Newport, Ky., but finished high school across the state line at Princeton High in Cincinnati.

Also in focus on camera were Robert Osborne (17 points, 14 rebounds, six assists), Charles Tart (13 points, several made-for-TV dunks) and Raemaad Wright (16 points, seven rebounds). VUU is now 3-0 on BCSBN and another opportunity comes Saturday when the Panthers face Bowie State at noon on the national broadcast station.

The CIAA North may come down to the regular season finale with VSU playing at VUU. Don’t be surprised if the cameras are rolling again at Barco.
