If VCU is looking for someone to take a shot, from any spot on the floor, at any time, Kuany Kuany is willing and able.

The slender 6-foot-9 graduate student leads the Rams in 3-point accuracy (43.1%) and free-throws (87%) and is second to dunk specialist Tobi Lawal with 53% overall accuracy.

A transfer from the University California, Kuany was born in Kenya but moved to Melbourne, Australia, as a child. He moved to the United States at age 15 for high school and played four seasons for Cal before coming cross country.

Kuany was a main man Feb. 3 with 15 points as the Rams defeated the University of Richmond, 63-52, before a filled-to-the rafters, partisan crowd of 7,637 at the Siegel Center.

In addition to the 15 points, Kuany had six rebounds and two blocked shots as coach Ryan Odom’s Rams improved to 14-8 overall and 6-3 in Atlantic 10. The victory ended UR’s 11 game winning streak.

VCU will play host to Dayton’s Flyers Friday at 7 p.m. in a contest that will be televised on ESPN2. Dayton is coached by former Rams’ Coach Anthony Grant and was 18-3 starting this week and ranked 21st nationally.
