Councilwoman Ann-Frances Lambert hosts The Women of Gilpin Empowerment Summit on Friday, May 10, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The event, held at the Calhoun Center, aims to provide support and encouragement to women in the community.

Guest speakers include Dr. Renata Hedrington-Jones, president of the National Organization of Social Workers, and filmmaker and activist Kemba Smith, who will offer insights and perspectives on empowerment and social issues.

Ms. Smith will present a pre-recorded video message during the event. A movie based on her life, “Kemba,” debuted on BET+ this year.

Councilwoman Lambert said the summit has potential to foster dialogue and solidarity among women in the community.

“The Women of Gilpin Empowerment Summit provides an opportunity for women to come together, share experiences, and explore avenues for personal and collective growth,” Ms. Lambert said.
