Oliver Hill Day/ The 22nd Annual Oliver Hill Day on May 10 at the Oliver Hill Courts Building. The theme: “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.” The event honors the memory of Mr. Hill, a lawyer and civil rights icon whose successful legal battles against racial discrimination helped end the unconstitutional doctrine of “separate but equal.” Mr. Hill’s son, Dr. Oliver W. Hill Jr., second from right, a professor at Virginia State University, was among the keynote speakers for the event hosted by the Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
