Henrico Ministers Conference to host community service Saturday, May 16

The Henrico Ministers Conference is holding a community worship and appreciation service to “recognize the faithful service of the pastors and to appreciate the service of several past presidents,” it has announced.
At the service, the ministers’ group also plans to announce an initiative encouraging donations of school supplies, clothing, gift cards and other items to Henrico County Public Schools from churches.
The service is 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 8775 Mount Olive Ave., in Henrico County.
The Rev. Duane Hardy, pastor of Seven Pines Baptist Church, is president of the ministers’ conference, which has a theme: “Together is Better.” He is scheduled to speak at the service.
Among those to be honored: The Rev. Darryl Thompson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church; Dr. Kirkland Walton, pastor of St. Peter Baptist Church; Dr. Andrew Moseley, pastor of Quioccasin Baptist Church; the Rev. Deborah Simmons, the first woman president of the Henrico Ministers Conference and associate minister of Mount Olive Baptist Church; and Gloria Vines, wife of former conference president, the late Rev. Rayfield Vines.
Other local pastors also will be recognized at the ceremony, organizers have said.
