Virginia Repertory Theatre presents “Gospel Nativity” this weekend

Virginia Repertory Theatre will present “Gospel Nativity,” a special holiday show as a workshop at 7 p.m. Dec 16 and 17 in the Jessie Bogese Theatre at Virginia Rep Center for Arts and Education, 4202 Hermitage Road.
Written, directed and choreographed by DeMone Seraphin, the show will feature the story of the birth of Jesus using dance and gospel music to enhance a production that “will be fun and exciting for families across all faith, cultural and social lines,” according to a Virginia Repertory news release.
“This will be a workshop presentation in partnership with Virginia Union University that we hope will become a Richmond family tradition,” said Desiree Roots, artistic director of community. “There will be a holiday market in the ballroom and we will invite patrons to stay after the show on Sunday night for a ‘Talk Back’ to provide some feedback on ‘Gospel Nativity’ for next year.”
The cast includes Dale Heiskill, Keisha Wallace, Durron Tyre, James Johnson III, Dee D Miller, JD Lewis, Timara Keene-Hargrove, Welton Williams III, Stafford Armstead and Nicole Armstead.
The artistic and design team team includes DeMone Seraphin, director; Michelle Lightfoot, music director; Jarius Wilson, assistant music director; and Desiree Roots, vocal coach.
Patrons are asked for a suggested payment of $15, or to pay what they can via the Box Office at (804) 282-2620. Online tickets are $15.
