Four historically black colleges in Virginia will join HBCUs from throughout the nation for the fifth National HBCU Speech & Debate Championship Feb. 24 through 26 at Virginia State University.

VSU, Virginia Union University, Hampton University and Norfolk State University are among the 14 HBCUs that will participate in the event, with 150 students from all the schools competing in 14 categories, such as literary interpretation, per- suasive speaking and more.

The championship is presented by Capitol One, the National HBCU Speech and Debate Association and the Richmond Forum.
