Jackson State University has been crowned the 2024 HBCU national football champions, following their dominant 31-16 win over South Carolina State in the Celebration Bowl. This marks the Tigers’ first HBCU national title since 1986, when American Urban Radio Networks named them champions.

  

The Tigers secured the No. 1 spot in both the Boxtorow HBCU Coaches and Media Polls, with unanimous support in the Media Poll and all but one first-place vote in the Coaches Poll. The lone dissenting vote went to Tennessee State, the Big South-OVC champions. South Carolina State, the Celebration Bowl runner-up, finished second in both polls.
