Virginians will have a chance to tour the Executive Mansion and meet the new first family during inaugural weekend, the Spanberger Inaugural Committee announced Monday.

The Executive Mansion Open House is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18. Guests will enter the mansion through the Capitol Square entrance. The event is free to the public, but entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Adam and I are looking forward to welcoming Virginians into our new home — a home which belongs to everyone who lives in our great Commonwealth,” said Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger. “This upcoming inauguration is about the people of Virginia, not any one person. As my administration works over the next four years to bring people together, lower costs for Virginia families, and build a stronger future for our Commonwealth, Virginia’s Executive Mansion will be a symbol of all that unites us as Virginians.”

Incoming first gentleman Adam Spanberger said the mansion “has stood as a symbol of our Commonwealth’s history, progress, and the generations of Virginians who strengthen our communities. As our family begins this next chapter of service to Virginia, we are excited to welcome guests to our home during the inaugural weekend and throughout our time as residents.”

The mansion has been home to Virginia governors since 1813, making it the oldest continuously occupied governor’s residence in the U.S. The Spanbergers will be the 58th residents.

The theme of the inauguration, “United for Virginia’s Future,” highlights Spanberger’s commitment to inclusive leadership and reflects the collective goals of Virginians.
