Virginia State commits to Henry Frazier III with long-term contract

Virginia State University Head Football Coach Henry Frazier III has signed a five-year contract, extending his tenure as he enters his third season with the Trojans in 2024. Frazier, named the team’s 26th head coach in May 2022, has led the program to 21 total wins and a share of the CIAA regular season championship in 2023.
During the 2023 season, the Trojans posted an 8-2 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in conference play. The team’s seven-game winning streak to open the season marked the best start under Frazier and included a 75-25 victory over Lincoln University. Nine players received All-CIAA honors, with Willie Drew named Defensive Player of the Year and KJ McNeil earning Defensive Rookie of the Year.
In his first season in 2022, Frazier guided the Trojans to a 6-4 record, with seven players earning All-CIAA recognition, including Offensive Lineman of the Year Matthew Foster.
Frazier, a Washington, D.C., native, has coached at multiple programs, including Bowie State University, Prairie View A&M University, and North Carolina Central University. His career record includes 91 collegiate wins.
