Award-winning crime fiction author S.A. Cosby will stop in Petersburg on Saturday, July 19, to promote his newest release, “King of Ashes,” during a book tour stop hosted by Resist Booksellers.

The event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison St. Doors open at 2 p.m., and free parking is available.

Cosby, a Virginia native known for his gritty Southern noir style, will be in conversation with fellow bestselling author Lamar Giles. They’ll discuss “King of Ashes,” which. is being called his most thrilling novel yet.

Cosby rose to national prominence with “Blacktop Wasteland,” followed by “Razorblade Tears” and “All the Sinners Bleed.” His books have earned acclaim for their fast-paced storytelling and complex portrayals of race, poverty and redemption in the rural South. Several of his works have been optioned for film, including “Blacktop Wasteland,” which is in development for a major motion picture.

Cosby, who grew up in Gloucester, often draws from his own experiences and surroundings to create vivid crime stories rooted in the realities of working-class life.
