Free Press staff report | 7/17/2025, 6 p.m.
Shalom Farms will host its annual summer open house on Sunday, July 20, offering Richmond residents a chance to explore its Northside farm and connect with local food justice initiatives.
The free, family-friendly event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1311 Westwood Ave., where guests can tour the urban farm, meet staff and partner organizations, and learn more about efforts to improve access to fresh, healthy food across the city.
“This is one of our favorite days of the year,” said Änna Ibrahim, executive director of Shalom Farms. “It’s a joyful, welcoming event where folks of all ages can experience the farm, ask questions, and see what food justice looks like up close.”
Activities include a cooking demonstration, hands-on children’s activities, food and dessert trucks, and informational booths. The farm’s Mobile Market will also be open, offering fresh produce at affordable, sliding-scale prices.
No RSVP is required, but it is preferred. The event will take place rain or shine. More information is available at shalomfarms.org/events/openhouse.
