VPM has named Ed Brown as its new chief financial officer, filling a key leadership role as the public media organization prepares for a transition to a new headquarters in downtown Richmond.

Brown brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit and corporate finance. He most recently served as chief financial officer at St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore, where he managed a $40 million budget and oversaw finance and information technology operations, including a multimillion-dollar endowment. His work there included migrating financial systems, renegotiating debt terms and advising senior leadership on financial planning.

Before joining St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore, Brown served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Elev8 Baltimore, where he led the organization’s transition from fiscal sponsorship to independent nonprofit status and rebuilt its finance function. Earlier in his career, he worked in enterprise-level financial planning and analysis at TIAA, focusing on cost management and infrastructure strategy.

“We are pleased to welcome Ed to the VPM team,” VPM President and CEO Jayme Swain said in a statement.

Brown holds an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Northwestern University.
