Henrico schools to host on-site vaccination clinics for rising 7th, 12th graders
Free Press staff report | 1/8/2026, 6 p.m.
Henrico County Public Schools and the Virginia Department of Health will hold free vaccination clinics at all Henrico middle and high schools for students entering seventh or 12th grade in the 2026-27 school year.
The clinics run from January through April, beginning Monday, Jan. 12, at Tuckahoe Middle School.
Virginia requires students to be immunized against several illnesses to enroll for the new school year. Rising seventh- and 12th-grade students must have two doses of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine, with the first given before entering seventh grade and the second before entering 12th grade after the student turns 16. Students entering seventh grade and 12th graders who have not received a dose of the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis booster after age 7 are also required to be vaccinated. Students ages 11 or older may receive the vaccine.
This year, parents or guardians must complete a separate online registration form for each clinic before vaccines can be given. Students may register for clinics only at the schools they currently attend as sixth or 11th graders, and parents do not need to attend.
Sign-up links and registration instructions are available at henricoschools.us/health. Families with questions can also contact their school nurse. A complete list of Virginia school immunization requirements is available at vdh.virginia.gov.
