Jill Scott is returning to music with her sixth studio album, “To Whom This May Concern,” set for release Feb. 13 through Human Re Sources/ The Orchard. The first single, “Beautiful People,” is available on all streaming platforms.
The album, Scott’s first full-length release in a decade, focuses on connection, humanity and “collective home.” She said the project reflects her commitment to inspire and uplift listeners.
“Sometimes the most powerful magic is simply showing up with love, truth, and always a song in heart,” Scott said.
“To Whom This May Concern” features collaborations with Ab-Soul, J.I.D, Tierra Whack and Too $hort. Producers on the album include Adam Blackstone, Om’Mas Keith, DJ Premier, Andre Harris, Seige Monstracity, Trombone Shorty, DW Wright and VT Tolan.
The album follows Scott’s 20th anniversary celebration of her debut, “Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1,” which earned her a Grammy Award and helped shape modern soul music. She recently completed a sold-out North American tour marking the milestone.
Visual artist Marcellus created the album artwork, which Scott said mirrors the tone and texture of the music.
Scott will also be featured in the Tyler Perry film “Why Did I Get Married Again?” currently in production for Netflix.
