Federal offices and state offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Offices in Richmond and Chesterfield, Henrico counties will be closed. Courts in Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico will not be in session. 

Public schools in Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties will be closed, as will the Richmond Public Library and county library branches. 

Trash and recycling collections will not occur Monday for most; collections scheduled for Monday and Tuesday routes may be delayed by one day. The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail Monday. Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed. 

GRTC buses will operate on a Saturday service schedule and resume regular weekday service Tuesday. Virginia ABC stores will have normal hours. Most banks and credit unions follow the federal holiday schedule and will be closed. 

Richmond Free Press offices will be closed Monday.
