A heavy-duty forklift positions the statue on its new concrete base facing Blanton Avenue at Trafford Road. Retired Richmond police officer Glenwood W. Burley, wearing a hard hat, began a campaign to relocate the statue in May 2015 to ensure it would be properly tended and more visible to the public. Sculptor Maria Kirby-Smith created the statue of an officer holding a child that was dedicated in 1987.
