Richmond got 2 inches of heavy, wet snow as it was brushed by a storm that slammed New England with up to 2 feet. Still, the mid-March snowfall was one of the largest Richmond has experienced ahead of the official arrival of spring on Tuesday, March 20, according to the U.S. Weather Service. The record snowfall for March 12 is the 4 inches that fell in 1910. The average snowfall for this time of year is a half inch, the weather data shows. The forecast for the next 10 days calls for continuing chilly weather. Daytime highs are predicted to be in the 40s to 50s, with nighttime lows ranging from the upper 20s to upper 30s.
