On “National Coffee with a Cop Day,” Richmond Police Chief Gerald M. Smith stopped by Starbucks Coffee at 2309 W. Broad St. and chatted with community members including 10-year-old Bella Brownlee, a 6th-grader at Albert Hill Middle School. Along with her mom, Lynne Brownlee, both of North Side, Bella made a cake for the chief, which they gave to him together. Bella, an accomplished singer also belted out a few stanzas of The Wiz’s “Ease on Down The Road” for the chief and others in the Starbucks. Bella is out of school today because Richmond Public Schools is closed for Yom Kippur. Her mother captures the moment here on her cell phone.
