“Woman. Life. Freedom.,” a new mural painted on the side of a vacant car wash building at 1205 Arthur Ashe Blvd., shows support for protesters in Iran who are fighting in support of a young Iranian woman, Mahsa Jina Amini, pictured, who was wrongfully taken into custody by the Iranian police. She was in a coma for three days and died on Sept. 16, 2022. Her alleged crime? Ms. Amini, 22, was visiting the capital city of Tehran on vacation from another part of her country of Iran and the “Morality Police” arrested her because her hair was not properly secured under her hijab, a head covering worn by some Muslim women, explains Ari Abad, an Iranian-American who came to Richmond when she was 17. Ms. Abad later co-founded, Woman Life Freedom RVA, which led the local mural project
