The 96 students at St. Andrew’s School join art teacher Chris Milk on Monday to get their first look at the mural they all helped create to mark the 125th year of the private school based in Oregon Hill. On the left, Mr. Milk prepares kindergarten students to participate in the painting last Friday. Philanthropist Grace E. Arents, niece of pioneering Richmond cigarette manufacturer Lewis Ginter, founded the school in 1894. Located at 227 S. Cherry St., the private school is one of the few in the United States offering a tuition-free education to children from families with limited financial resources. The mural fits with the school’s emphasis on arts and music as key elements of its curriculum. The school serves 16 students in each class from kindergarten through fifth grade.
