Re: “Ashe mural to be unveiled at Battery Park on July 12,” Free Press July 6-8 edition: I had started writing a letter about the myth of Arthur Ashe playing tennis in Battery Park when I saw the letter to the editor by Kathryn L. Reid in the June 29-July 1 edition of the Free Press. I thought the matter had been addressed and corrected, but I see the myth is still alive and being promoted.
Stand up to corporate polluters
As Earth Day is upon us, we have a perfect opportunity to reflect on the important issue of climate change and what it means to the faith community. As people of faith and as people sharing this planet, it is clearly our moral obligation to address this growing and potentially catastrophic problem. Climate change affects all of us, including our children, our children’s children, and especially those in the poorest and most vulnerable communities among us. If we are truly our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, we cannot ignore and leave them helpless to this public health threat.

New Richmond judge sworn in

She was formally installed last Friday as the newest judge on the Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. She succeeds Judge Angela E. Roberts, who retired July 29 after 26 years on the bench.
